DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Carrboro Tourism Development Authority is responsible for promoting travel and tourism in the Town of Carrboro. The Authority is funded through use of hotel room use occupancy tax. These tax dollars must be used to promote travel and tourism or for tourism related expenditures.

MEMBERS

The TDA consists of 3 members appointed by the Town Council. Members need not reside in the Town, but at least 1 member must be affiliated with businesses that collect the occupancy tax in the Town, and 2 members must be currently active in the promotion of travel and tourism in the Town.

  • Members shall be appointed for one-year terms
  • Members may be appointed to successive terms without limitations
  • Current Tourism Development Authority Members

Staff support is provided by the Economic Development Department

COMMUNITY GRANTS

The TDA sets aside funds each year to support local events that draw visitors from outside of Carrboro or public projects that support tourism, i.e. public art, wayfinding, etc. Event planners, designers, and artists are encouraged to submit proposals for events/projects.
